Next Thursday (5 March) World Book Day
World Book Day is a registered charity on a mission to give every child and young person a book of their own. It’s also a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
This year, to mark the 23rd World Book Day, we are once again inviting children to come to school dressed as a character from one of their favourite books. They may even wish to bring along a copy of the book too. We will be discussing who they have chosen to be and why. Please note that there is no set theme and absolutely no requirement to buy any additional items – many characters in our favourite books wear simple, everyday clothes!
Look out for the £1 book token which will be given to your child next week.
Although the tokens are dated until 29 March, these will be accepted at both of the Usborne book sales which will be held to coincide with our parents’ evenings later this term (Tues 29 March and Thur 2 April)
