Dear Parents and Carers,
You may be aware that we have had a number of children feeling unwell in school this week, coming down with either a nasty stomach bug or a high temperature/ flu-like virus. Our attendance is certainly reduced (currently averaging 90% as opposed to 96%) and we have had to make a number of phone calls home, asking parents to collect their child if they are clearly unwell. Please can you help us by:
Ensuring we have more than a minimum of 2 contacts on our school system
Asking your GP if medication can be administered in 2 doses rather than 3 (and therefore given outside of the school day)
Ensuring you have completed a short term medical form (available from the school office) if your child requires medication in school (we are unable to administrator medication otherwise)
Handing all medication to the school office, and not the class teacher in the morning
Ensuring children are fully recovered before they return to school (and specifically that children do not return to school for 48 hours following their last episode of diarrhoea and/or vomiting)
Many thanks for your support. I do hope that we are through the worst and that those children who are not well at present, get better soon.
Tree decorating
As we head towards Christmas, we are keen to launch our annual tree decorating competition. Just like last year, we are inviting every child to make a decoration for our school Christmas tree and to bring it into school any day from 1 December. Decorations can be of any shape and are not limited to baubles! However, please can you ensure that each one is clearly named. Every entrant will earn 3 house points, and we will be choosing some winners towards the end of term.
Digital world
As we head towards ‘Black Friday’ and Christmas shopping, many of you will be considering whether to buy your child a tablet or phone, maybe for the first time. If you have questions concerning internet safety and well- being or just want to share your thoughts with other parents, please do come along to next week’s meeting ‘Growing up in a digital world’.
Have a lovely weekend.
