Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope that you have had chance to put names to faces and maybe meet our two new members of staff, Miss Gregory (who has joined the 1/2 teaching team) and Mr Atkinson who has joined the Sporting Influence team and teaches reception and KS1 PE on a Monday. Unfortunately Mrs Thomson-Smith will not be working with us this year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Thompson Smith for all her hard work both in lessons and at our musical events. Please be assured that music will still be taught each week and we will be drawing on Miss Gregory’s enthusiasm and expertise in music. Instrumental lessons will run as usual and we very much hope to re-start choir and orchestra in due course.
Meeting re. Secondary schools
Although we are only at the start of the school year, we are already starting to plan for Y6's transition to secondary school. Please click here to read information from the local authority regarding the process of applying for secondary school places. In addition, there will be an informal information evening for parents of children of any age who would like to find out more about the range of secondary options available. The meeting will take place on 19 September in KS2 hall, from 7-8pm.
Jeans on Friday
On Monday, I will be leading a whole school assembly ahead of Friday’s ‘Jeans for genes’ day. Jeans for Genes Day is the annual fundraising campaign for Genetic Disorders UK, the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by a genetic disorder. 1 in 25 children are born with a life-altering genetic disorder and by asking our children to wear their jeans and donate £1, we can help provide vital care, equipment and activities for children and their families. We are asking children to wear jeans and a top (no football tops please) and shoes that they can play out in at playtime. If you would like your child to take part in this important day, please send them in non -school uniform with a one pound donation on Friday 20 September
Sports, drama and Forest clubs
You should have received notification about signing up for our sports and drama clubs which start next week. These are paid clubs, allocated on a first come first served basis and open to children from Y1 upwards. Sign up information regarding other paid and unpaid clubs will be following in due course.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
