Collaborative Learning Trust: School Council Event
Today, school councils from across our Trust of schools came together for a collaborative event at Prince Henry's Grammar School. Firstly, children were joined by a group of sixth formers for a tour of the school. Children then worked within their school teams to present what it was like to be at their own school; what things would make their school even better and how they could achieve this. Our school council provided the other schools with many insightful ideas, including increasing the range of after school clubs currently on offer and raising money for a school mini-bus to take them to events such as this.
After that, the children engaged in a session based on five keywords: diversity, equality, acceptance, respectful and inclusion. They then worked with children from other schools to create an acrostic poem based on one of the words. The children had an opportunity to present their poems to the other groups.
A particular highlight for the children was of course lunchtime where children enjoyed lunch in the school canteen. The paninis were very popular!
After lunch, the children voted on their favourite poem with 'Acceptance' being declared the winner.
Well done to Hayden, Rose, Emilia, Sophie, Georgia, Edward, Lucy, Lucas, Hana and Mabelle- they were a credit to the school and spoke incredibly well, providing valuable contributions within every session. It was great to see the children interact with pupils from other schools, including the older children from PHGS. Thank you to All Saints School, Bradford for picking us up in their mini-buses!
