Year 6 residential trip with The Bushcraft Company
This week Year 6 children ventured to the grounds of Castle Howard for their three-day residential. It was a unique and immersive experience designed to promote outdoor learning, teamwork, and personal growth.
The trip included shelter building where they learnt essential survival skills such as constructing safe and weather-resistant shelters using para cord and tarpaulin. On the second night many children decided to test their shelters by spending the night in them.
The Bushcraft Company tribe leaders taught the children various fire-lighting techniques, emphasizing the importance of fire safety. During the trip, children learnt how to cook meals over an open fire and gained knowledge about preparing salmon in a wilderness setting.
The team-building challenges provided opportunities for children to work together, solve problems, and communicate effectively. They learnt the value of teamwork and gained confidence in their ability to cooperate with others.
The Year 6 residential trip with The Bushcraft Company was a resounding success. Children had the opportunity to learn and develop important skills, fostered a sense of teamwork, and gained a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
