On Thursday, reception had a great trip to Nell Bank in Ilkley, which supported the children's learning on mini beasts and looking after our environment. We listened to the story Tidy, by Emily Gravett. This is a very funny rhyming woodland story about the perils of being too tidy and the importance of looking after our environment.
During the day, we learnt to recognise the recycle symbol and had a go at sorting the rubbish into items that we can recycle and those we can't recycle. We also went for a walk through the Bluebell woods and made little badger houses out of sticks.
The children really enjoyed the different play areas; there was a challenging wooden balancing area, tunnels to climb through and a water play area. Both classes were a real credit to our school; the Nell Bank staff commented positively on their knowledge and excellent behaviour.
Finally, we really appreciate all the parents and grandparents who came along to help and got involved in the activities. Thank you!
