Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you are looking forward to the Bank holiday weekend and some additional family time. As you are aware, we have an additional long weekend the following week to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. In school, we are planning to use the coronation as a learning opportunity and will be amending our school timetable on Friday 5 May. This will provide our school community with an opportunity to mark this historical occasion.
During the day, children will be taking part in some special activities, learning the national anthem and talking about the significance of the coronation.
We would love it if you could help us in two ways:
- Sending your child to school dressed in red, white and blue.
- Sending your child with an individual treat/snack for our whole school gathering on the school field. This could be royally themed if you wish - an iced biscuit or cupcake for example*
*Please note, lunch will be served as usual, but we will be moving Fishy Friday to Wednesday and having a traditional roast dinner on the 5th.
Finally, if you wish to make any 'extras' such as crowns, or bring Union Jack bunting, you are most welcome!
Thank you for your support. We are hoping for sunny weather and believe the day will be a memorable start to the national celebrations.

STEM Workshop in Year 3/4
|
|
|
This week Year Y3/4 had a visit from a team led by Mrs Hadfield and her team from DePuy Synthes who came to speak to the children about their careers in STEM as engineers. The children took part in an exciting workshop designing a piece of equipment to fix bones. In teams, they had a designing session, put their ideas into practice using model bones and finally tested them! We had a range of outcomes and failures but got a great insight into the design making process! Thank you to Mrs Hadfield and her colleagues for coming into work with our Year 3/4 children.

Showing Kindness
A few weeks ago, 1M were given the idea by William B, to write a birthday card to a veteran who was celebrating his 105th birthday. As a class we talked about the importance of looking out for everyone, and how small gestures of kindness can mean so much. We were really pleased to receive a reply from Ernest who was very grateful for his 30 birthday cards!

Change & Transition: Home, school, family and friends
With Sue O’Leary-Hall from Thesan Coaching
Thursday May 4th 6.30-8pm
Changes and new situations are an inevitable part of life but can sometimes seem challenging. Children (and adults) do not always find them straightforward. Learning about change and how to cope with it will help children with transitions of all kinds.
At this time of year parents and children begin to think about the moves into a new school year, change of teacher, a new key stage or a move to High School.
Sue O’Leary-Hall will be back in school to present this parent workshop on how you can help support your children with new situations and help build their resilience and adaptability for the future.
Please use the online form HERE to sign up for the workshop. We hope to see lots of you there:
