We like you to feel involved in our 'Big Think-Big talk' assemblies.
This week our theme is Online Safety.
The key question we are asking is: How do we protect and make the most of our identity online?

Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you so much for entering into the spirit of World Book day. It was lovely to see the children so excited and coming together for our whole school costume parade was a real highlight. As usual, I was hugely impressed by the range and creativity of the outfits but also by the children's ability to tell us about their word origins and meanings. Thank you to Mr Dawes our English subject leader who organised the day and ensured everyone had fun!
Now that World Book Day is over, we all are looking forward to Comic Relief on Friday 17th March. As I'm sure you're aware, Comic Relief is a major charity based in the UK which strives to create a just world, free from poverty. It raises money to support mental health services, provide shelter for those in need, raise awareness to end child poverty and provide support for domestic violence. Over the last six years, Comic Relief has raised more than £250 million to help end child poverty and has positively impacted over 25 million children around the world.
You will be relieved to read that there is no special outfit required on the day! The theme this year is to dress ‘red’ to toe. You can wear one red item or come all in red (including school uniform if you wish)! For children who choose to dress up, the school is asking for a voluntary £1 donation. Please make your £1 donation via your ScoPay account. All proceeds will go to Comic Relief.
Finally, for 2023, Comic Relief has a new Red Nose, exclusively designed by Sir Jony Ive. The magically transforming Red Nose starts as a tiny, flat crescent and springs into a beautiful honeycomb-paper sphere. At a cost of £2.50, you can order yours now: HERE. KS2 may wear the transforming red noses on the day but please note that the new Red Nose is not suitable for children under the age of 7 years old.
We hope the children have another great day in school, and thank you for your continued support.

As part of providing enrichment to the history curriculum, children in Year 5/6 took part in a drama workshop. They discovered facts about Ancient Greek beliefs, the Olympian gods and considered the impact these beliefs had on the people at that time. Children expressed their ideas and understanding through voice, movement, role play and drama and took part in an "Ancient Greek Gods Got Talent" competition. Their final task was to work in groups to re-enact the myth of Medusa.
"I enjoyed acting in 'Gods Got Talent' and doing the freeze-framing in the workshop. My favourite was the Greek pose game." Edward W
"The workshop was a fun experience that helps you learn and play games at the same time. I would definitely recommend it." Lucy B
"I loved the way that we had no writing and it was all acting/drama." George B
"The workshop was very fun but I also learnt a lot about how they lived. I really enjoyed getting to act out the scenes. I would like to do it again." Mabelle F

Thank you for taking time to choose a word and help your children dress up; we have shared some fantastic vocabulary across the school this week. KS2 children really enjoyed reading with KS1 and were part of a live Q & A session with Sir Michael Morpurgo. Amazingly, we were selected from thousands of school to ask him a question. The vocabulary parade was a great success with children from the whole school showing off their costumes and understanding. The children now have two weeks to complete their ‘Readathon’ sponsored read. Sponsorship money can be paid directly on the www.readforgood.org website, or you can hand it into the office.
Thank you again for your support.

Class 2G really enjoyed World Book Day! The children wrote a book review about ‘The Smeds and The Smoos’ by Julia Donaldson. They also created bookmarks and drew their costume designs, explaining why they chose their character and word.

Bramhope in Bloom Competition
Bramhope in Bloom are holding their annual poster competition! Winning entries will be displayed around the village.
There are two templates, links below, on which the children may do their own design. Space has been allocated below the heading, so pupils can write their name and class. Template 1 / Template 2.
Pupils may wish to include flowers, bees, butterflies, insects or perhaps a crown for Charles' coronation!
Bramhope in Bloom are holding a coffee morning on Wednesday 5 April, when they will display all the entries and choose the winners. Therefore, please send all entries to the school office, by the end of March. A winner will be chosen from each class.
We have lots of lovely prizes to give away and look forward to seeing your designs!
