We like you to feel involved in our 'Big Think-Big talk' assemblies.
This week's theme is 'Fundamental British Values '
The key question we are asking is:
What does it mean to be British?

Dear Parents and Carers,
I wanted to end the week by informing you that unfortunately, Mrs Heald will no longer be teaching after the half-term holiday. Although Mrs Heald is sorry to be leaving the classroom, she is considering the possibility of exploring her passion for art and starting a new career! Many of you will know that Mrs Heald started work at Bramhope just before the pandemic, used her position as art leader to establish a really ambitious curriculum and only returned to class teaching in September. Alongside her teaching, Mrs Heald established the art studio, set up the arts council and was instrumental in leading our whole school mosaic project. Mrs Heald will be greatly missed, but this is an exciting new chapter for her! I am sure you will want to join me in thanking Mrs Heald and wishing her well with future ventures. Staff and pupils will be saying a proper thank you and goodbye on 10 February and many of you will have the opportunity to say your own goodbyes next week. Miss Beaumont (Mrs Heald's job share) has been appointed full-time for the remainder of this academic year.

Number Day
A huge thank you to everyone for taking part so enthusiastically in Number Day! It was great to see so many different numbers in EYFS and KS1 as well as the awesome rock stars of KS2! We definitely have some future rockers at Bramhope Primary School. We have measured, taken part in maths quizzes, practised times tables and had lots of fun with maths! KS2 even practised singing Bon Jovi's "Livin On A Prayer," with their inflatable air guitars!
Finally, as an extra, we also raised £280 for the NSPCC!

Number Day in 2G
Our favourite number activity was who can crack the code first? We also drew our own number caterpillar, created our own codes and wrote down lots of sums that we know. Well done 2G!

Year 2
Year 2 enjoyed their mystery visit on Wednesday from Virginia, a representative from Salvation Way Primary School in Bombo, Uganda. Virginia spoke to the class about life in Uganda, and we learnt many interesting facts. The children asked and answered lots of questions and are looking forward to her return visit.

Athlete Visit
On Tuesday, children in all year groups enjoyed a tough circuit class with Jenny Wallwork, the Team GB athlete and motivational speaker.
Jenny, who visits schools every week, was amazed by the enthusiasm and the determination of all the children at our School.
After the circuits class, Jenny led an inspiring assembly demonstrating her badminton skills and explaining how she became one of the top five players in the world.
Thank you for all your donations so far, you still have until Tuesday 6 February to send any outstanding sponsorship money.

Dodgeball
For the last two Wednesday's, children from years 3-6 have represented Bramhope in friendly dodgeball matches hosted by Sporting Influence in Harrogate. Those involved have had a fantastic experience and displayed our sporting values of resilience, determination, respect, positive body language and communication.
After half-term, there will be further opportunities for those who have not yet represented school to take part in a range of exciting sports.

Leeds Cross Country Finals
On Thursday afternoon, 14 children from Bramhope represented Northwest Leeds in the Leeds Cross Country Finals after qualifying in the autumn term.
Year 3/4 ran a 900 m undulating loop in front of the impressive Temple Newsam house. All children ran impressively with a notable finish from Bert who finished second.
The 1500m course for Year 5/6 children started and finished on the same stretch as the previous races but included two additional off camber inclines through trees. Farrah finished 6th.
In the boy's races, Rhys was the only year 5 runner and three of the Year 6 boys finished in the top ten, with Sammy finishing second. Sammy was also delighted to secure the all important purple t-shirt for the second year in a row!
Those who have qualified will progress to the next stage of the competition, representing Leeds against children from all over West Yorkshire.

Book Fair
To promote reading for pleasure and to encourage our pupils to read more broadly, we are holding a school book fair on each evening from Monday 6 to Thursday 9 February. This has been booked to coincide with Parents’ Evening and will be held in the new school Library (KS2)
The book fair is being organised in conjunction with our local Usborne Partner, Rosie Hanley. The great news is that as well as getting wonderful books for your children to enjoy at home, every book purchased will go towards brand-new FREE books for our school. Usborne will also donate up to 60% of the total book fair sales value raised in FREE BOOKS. So, for every £600 of books purchased, we will get £360 of FREE Usborne books for our school!

Next Parent Workshop:
21 February - Online Safety: Parenting in a digital world
New time of 09.00- 10.00 am
In today's digital world, it can be difficult to navigate some of the challenges around online technologies. Increasingly as a school, we see children spending more time online. At Bramhope, 47% of our children are spending at least an hour a day on their devices and 93% have access to devices at home.
This session is run by our digital leaders. It will be practical with some key tips on how to navigate the digital parenting world and there will be plenty of opportunities to discuss key information in parent groups. We will cover, amongst other things, managing health and wellbeing online, looking at social media for both younger and older age groups. We shall also be sharing some excellent resources!
Please complete the online form HERE if you are able to join us:
Any questions please contact Mrs Judd: caroline.judd@bramhopeprimaryschool.co.uk

PTA News
Tickets for the KS1 & KS2 disco on Friday 10th February are now available to buy online https://www.pta-events.co.uk/bpspta/
All proceeds will go to buy new equipment and books for each class...
- Tickets must be bought in advance but the sooner, the better to help us with ordering food etc.
- We're looking for volunteers to help with both discos and to tidy up afterwards. Please fill in the form on the above link if you can help and let us know which slot you can cover.
- The disco is just for KS1 and KS2 (we made this decision because some of the children in reception were a bit overwhelmed last year). Instead, we’re treating both reception classes to their own Moo Music disco. Both discos will be held within school hours on Friday 10th February and will be funded by the PTA. We think this will be more suitable for the younger children and really hope they enjoy it!
Key dates for your diary!
- Friday 10th February - end of term disco for years 1-6
- Sunday 26th March - sponsored bike ride
If you would like to volunteer for the PTA please fill in the online form HERE or email us on pta@bramhopeprimaryschool.co.uk
