Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you to the 188 respondents who recently completed our parent survey. Unfortunately, we have to collect responses in a simplistic 'yes/no' fashion, as we regularly share statistical data with governors and Trustees. We also share data with OFSTED as and when the need arises. I hope you were able to use parents evening to discuss any of the issues you were concerned about. I would very much encourage you to air any worries with your child's class teacher at an early stage. Mrs Judd is also following up on some of the individual comments which were made on the parent questionnaires, as we are very keen to understand and address some of the points which were raised.
The two main themes which emerged from our most recent survey were wanting more information about children's learning and greater access to clubs. In response, we will be circulating a curriculum overview for all year groups within the next two weeks. This will provide information about all subject areas. Going forwards, we will also be sharing the knowledge that we expect children to learn and remember within each subject. This forms part of phase three of our curriculum review and will be introduced by Mr Street, who leads on Quality of Education at Bramhope.
With regards to clubs, we are unfortunately unable to offer more sports clubs on a Monday and Thursday at present. This is because most Sporting Influence staff are based in Harrogate, and it is not practical for them to travel to Bramhope for an hour or two within the working day. In addition, we operate within strict health and safety guidelines and are keen to ensure that coaching is high quality, something which can only be guaranteed if we limit numbers to a ratio of 1:20. To offset this, we have shortened the sign-ups to 5 weeks so that more children can take part in sports clubs. We have also broadened our offering beyond the more traditional sports. Finally, I also met with the Director of Sporting Influence (Dave Moss) and he is aware that we are keen to offer more clubs if the opportunity arises.
As you would expect, the parental responses were hugely positive:
- My child is happy at Bramhope Primary School 99%

We are very proud of these responses. They not only reflect the hard work and commitment of all staff, but also demonstrate that our school motto impacts on our children. Our golden threads (the three B’s) are woven through school life and can be summarised as follows:
- We work hard so that all children feel a part of Bramhope Primary and are inclusive to others (Belong)
- We emphasise achievement through effort (Be Your Best)
- We provide opportunities for children to become responsible citizens and leaders of the future (Be Bramhope)
Thank you for taking the time to complete our survey.
