We’d like you to feel involved in your child’s learning and maybe build on our 'Big think' assembly with a discussion at home.
Our assembly theme this week is 'online safety'.
|
|
This week's key question is:
Do you know how to keep yourself safe online?

Dear parents and carers,
Thank you so much for all the positive feedback about Sunday’s sponsored bike ride. The event reflects our on-going commitment to promoting sustainable travel and is turning out to be a brilliant fundraiser! The weather was perfect, it was a fantastic family event and everybody clearly enjoyed themselves. Thank you so much to our fabulous Y6 helpers, the many PTA volunteers and especially Sophie Tuley who planned the whole event.
If you weren’t able to attend and would like to watch a snapshot, click here: https://vimeo.com/690665627
Please note that you will only be able to access the film if you have the link above and password which is pta (all lower case).

We have also have two photos below, kindly sent in from the parents of Megan and Alexa from the cycle challenge.

School Expansion
As you are aware, the council granted planning permission for our school expansion last Thursday. I am now overseeing a very tight schedule of works to ensure we are ready for a September opening. Unfortunately, in order to meet this timescale, parents, staff and pupils will face some disruption for the remainder of the school year. It can be challenging to coordinate contractors, so please be patient if things change or don’t go according to plan!
The first change will be access to the car park near KS1. After the Easter holiday, there will be no staff/parent parking near the KS1 building or round the turning circle. This is because the dining hall is being extended during term time. Please note that school lunches and playtime will be unaffected.
The second change concerns access to reception and Cliffe House nursery. After the Easter holiday, there will be no pedestrian access for parents of nursery children or parents of reception children via the KS1 playground. Instead, they will use a boarded walkway to access reception and Cliffe House nursery. The walkway will run from the existing path next to the garden along the back of the reception outdoor area and on to KS1 playground. This walkway will be used for drop off and pick up only. Please note, the school entrance nearest the KS1 library will be unaffected but will be fenced off from the works area.
I am not aware of any other impact on school at the moment but will update you again as soon as I know more. Thank you in advance for your support.

This week Noodle the Reading Dog has been meeting more pupils. The following children were very excited to be picked to read to Noodle.
KS1
- Bethan F
- Jagraj L
- Emeilia W
- James D
- Sam H
- Freddie Mc
KS2
- Jack H
- Arjun L

- Sam D
'I have really enjoyed meeting Noodle. I also liked reading aloud and listening to the other children reading' Jack H
Having a reading dog in school really helps motivate some children to read. For those who lack confidence, having a dog as an audience has also been found to be calming and reassuring. To find out more about how Reading Dogs support children in learning to read, visit the link below:
https://www.booktrust.org.uk/news-and-features/features/2017/august/how-these-adorable-dogs-are-helping-children-love-reading/
Each week the teachers will be encouraging the pupils to read regularly at home. Those that do will have their names put in the hat. We can't wait to see who gets to read with Noodle next week!

Year 5 Malham Residential
As part of our exciting new enrichment programme to challenge and inspire children beyond the classroom environment, Year 5 have enjoyed three activity packed days at Malham Tarn House this week.
The residential included geography fieldwork linked to our recent Rivers topic, orienteering linked to outdoor adventurous activity in PE and humane mammal trapping as we worked scientifically.
'The best part of our trip was the scenic 4 mile walk because we were able to see the journey of a river and it was interesting to see the limestone caves which had formed,' Ben.
'My favourite parts were getting to spend time with my friends, seeing Malham Cove and climbing down the 412 steps. We went to the river and practised some great geography and science. It was an amazing experience,' Molly.
'My favourite part of the Year 5 residential was the teamwork activities because we developed respect, communication and encouragement skills. I also enjoyed finding samples in the river. On Tuesday we ventured on a four-mile walk where we studied the course of a river,' Audrey.

Lost Property
On Friday 1 April at 15:15, we will be laying out all lost property items on tables in the KS2 playground, for parents to check and claim.
If any items are not claimed after this time they will either be donated to charity or if in good condition, uniform items will be passed to the PTA to be resold.
In the interim if you know of any item that has recently been lost and is named, please contact the admin team.

School lunches
The current school menus can be found on the school website HERE.
Parents should order meals in advance, for the whole week following, via Scopay. Please do this in before 13.00 on Thursdays, each week.
Choose M for meat choice and V for vegetarian. This can be done for ad hoc days. If you wish your child to have a packed lunch on some days please choose P for packed lunch.
Please help us by telling your child what meals have been ordered for the week, M or V. Some pupils are choosing different options to what has been pre-ordered, which means the Kitchen are running out of certain meals for KS2 pupils.
Thank you
Please contact the office if you need help using Scopay: admin@bramhopeprimaryschool.co.uk

PTA News
Wow! We've had an amazing couple of weeks of fundraising, and we are so thankful to all of you, your friends & family members for your generous donations.
Sponsored Cycle
The PTA would like to thank everyone who came to the recent sponsored cycle event. It was so lovely seeing everyone there and the weather was perfect!
We would like to extend a huge "thank you" to those who helped organise the event and supported it by being marshals & handing out the ribbons to those taking part. To the Y6 children who helped man the tuck shop, you did a great job. We genuinely cannot run events like this without your support, and we have been overwhelmed by the amount of parent volunteers we have recently had.
Whilst we don’t have the final figures yet for this event, the sponsorship money alone has now passed the £3000 mark which is incredible!
Mothers Day Secrets Room
Thank you to all the parents who helped to make our Secrets Room event such a huge success this week. We hope all the children enjoyed choosing their gifts; we certainly enjoyed watching them pick! We have raised approx £980 from this much loved event & we hope you all enjoy opening your gifts.
End of term disco - Fri 1st April
Our next event which is our END OF TERM DISCO, will be taking place next Friday, 1st April.
So many of you have already booked your ticket(s), but there are still many of you who have not. If you would like your child to attend the disco, we are asking for tickets to be bought by MIDDAY ON THURS 31ST MARCH.
Due to catering & safeguarding compliance, we cannot accommodate any last minute ticket sales once ticket sales end, so please spread the word, remind your friends and share the link below to buy your tickets.:
We have had quite a few people ask questions about the disco, so we will be sending out an FAQ before the event along with other important information you will need. We have been completely overwhelmed by the support we have received from all of you. We appreciate all of you who are giving up your time to volunteer at the disco. We could not hold events like this without you.
Summer Fayre & Scarecrow Hunt
Our annual Summer Fayre and Scarecrow Hunt is fast approaching & we need to start planning. We have a few parent volunteers already, but we need more. Can you help?
We are also looking for a lead organiser and team for the scarecrow hunt. Is this something you might be able to do? We would love to hear from you!
We will need lots of volunteers on the day, but at the moment we are looking for parent volunteers to make up the planning committees, so if you can get involved, we would love for you to get in touch.
All events are to raise money towards the Great Outdoors Project.
Thank you
Your PTA Team

If you would like to help us with any of the events please get in touch; we need plenty of volunteers in order to make these events successful. pta@bramhopeprimaryschool.co.uk
