Dear parents and carers,
This week the government outlined the changes for schools operating procedures from Step 4 and produced updated guidance. The final decision about whether Step 4 commences on 19th July is expected to be announced on Monday.
In Leeds, our school term obviously runs beyond 19th July and school leaders are now having to decide whether to maintain bubbles and other control measures until the end of term. At Bramhope, we will be following our existing risk assessment and other control measures for the remainder of this term. This decision is supported by the local authority as well as our public health colleagues in Leeds.
I hope you agree that this is the prudent approach given the rising number of cases in Leeds, particularly amongst school aged children. I very much hope that all classes will be in school on the final day of this term and that staff, pupils, parents and family members will be well for the start of the summer holiday.

Recruitment
As you are aware, we have been recruiting new staff for September. In KS1, we will be welcoming two new staff into our support team, Jennifer Yeoman and Joanna Wilson. In addition, I have appointed a new support assistant for KS2 and a new teacher for the year one class. I will be circulating information about our two newest appointments next week. In the meantime, I hope the following information will help you put a name to a face at least:

I was educated and have lived in Wharfedale most of my life, graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2001.
I have spent 16 years working in the aviation industry, however after having my two children I chose to retrain as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant. I have always adored spending time with children and the coaching and development aspect of my role at Jet2.com, so it made perfect sense to pursue a career within education.
In my spare time, I enjoy baking, crafting and adventures with the children and have a keen interest in interior design.
I am delighted to be joining the team at Bramhope Primary school in September and very much look forward to meeting the children and their families.

56L & 56M
5/6L and 5/6M have worked extremely hard on Teams this week. They have shared their ideas during the Teams' sessions and have completed assignments on time. It has been absolutely fantastic to see how they have supported, motivated and encouraged each other while learning at home.
A huge well done to you all!
Mrs Laws and Mr McKeown

Relationships, Sex and Education (R.S.E.) policy
Thank you to the parents who provided feedback on our new R.S.E policy. We enjoyed hearing parents’ views about the policy and have had some interesting and informative conversations in recent weeks. As you are aware, the consultation period has now ended. We hope we managed to contacted everyone who asked for further information. Please email admin if you would like to arrange a call with our PSHE lead, Charli House.
(admin@bramhopeprimaryschool.co.uk).
Our new policy will come into effect from September, and we will contact you again before embarking on the RSE unit of work in the autumn term.

Calendar Update
As you may know, the additional Bank holidays planned for 2021-22 fall in the June half-term. As a result, Leeds has stated that there will be 194 teaching days next year, rather than 195.
The impact of this decision is that we will be taking an additional training day in September. This means that the five training days for next academic year are as follows:
Training days/school closed: September 6, 7 and 8. First teaching day: Thursday 9 September
Training days/school closed: July 25 and 26. Last teaching day: Friday 22 July
