Class 34H
Today, Class 34H had a brilliant zoom call with Sarah from the Leeds museum at Kirkstall.
They had the opportunity to watch a video, taking them through the Victorian streets which you can find at the museum.
We then learnt a lot about Victorian toys and compared these to some 1930's toys. Sarah showed the children Dutch dolls, porcelain dolls that had real human hair and a clockwork toy train. We also found out that jigsaws are named after the type of saw that was used to cut all of the pieces before big factories took over the manufacture of them.
Comments from the children:
George B - The zoom call was amazing and really good fun. I loved learning about Mr Elephant who was over 130 years old.
Alice B - I liked looking at the rocking horse and how it rocked but had wheels too.
Zach A - I liked learning about how the toys changed. They were all wooden and dull in Victorian times but then the 1930's toys were a bit more colourful and were made from tin and metal.
A huge thank you from 34H to Mrs Stewart for organising this for us. It was a brilliant experience for the children.
