We like you to feel involved in our 'Big Think-Big talk' assemblies.
This week's theme is staying safe online
The key question we discussed was:
Do you have any concerns or worries using online technology?

Dear Parents and Carers,
I wanted to end the week by thanking the parents, PTA committee and children for all the hard work they put into last week's Scarecrow Hunt and summer fair. There is a huge amount of organisation behind both events, and we are so appreciative of everyone who played a part in making them happen. Parents were on site from early morning until early evening last Saturday and were very generous with their time. Given the current challenges around site access and disruption to facilities, I was delighted that we were able to go ahead with the events and the children clearly loved them!
As you are aware, we seek to provide leadership opportunities for all children throughout their time at Bramhope and I was particularly impressed with our Y6 children who organised stalls and games and acted as brilliant role models on the day. I was also delighted to welcome our newest families to the school (those parents whose children are starting in September) as well as many former pupils and grandparents. Bramhope is known for being a school with family values and it was such a positive experience for all our children to feel part of that family. If you were unable to attend and would like a flavour of the day click on the link to watch a 3-minute film: https://vimeo.com/725011763 Password: pta (all lowercase).
Finally, thank you too for your support at KS1 sports day. The event was organised by our PE leader Mr McKeown and supported by Bramhope teaching staff and Sporting Influence who work with us in school. Thanks to Mr McKeown's organisation and leadership, everything ran smoothly, and the children clearly really enjoyed themselves. Once again, it was lovely to have parents and grandparents spectating, and we look forward to seeing you again at reception and KS2 sports day if you are able to attend.

Online Safety
As part of their computing lessons, the pupils have completed a survey about their online usage. The survey informs how we deliver our E-Safety in school by helping us better understand usage of technology at home. It also helps us to plan our teaching to focus on issues which are relevant for our children at Bramhope.

Year 5 High School Experience Day
On Monday this week, all Year 5 visited Prince Henry's Grammar School to experience a typical day in high school. The children took part in a carousel of lessons including science, mandarin, technology, and PE. They also got to experience eating lunch in the canteen! This was a great experience for all pupils, whether they will be attending Prince Henry's in the future or heading elsewhere.

Sports Day Reminder
We have really enjoyed welcoming parents back to spectate and encourage this year's Sports days!
For reception and KS2, parents should arrive at the school field 5 minutes before the start. Children will then parade round the field, in their house teams, before the activities are introduced.
Throughout each Sports Day children will complete a range of activities to score points for their houses. After completing the carousel of events, we will then move across the field, to the running track, for the sprint finals.
All sports day activities will take place on the school field:
- Years 5 and 6 - Monday 4 July, from 09:15 to 11:45 (latest)
- Reception - Monday 4 July, from 13.00 to 15.00 (latest)
Pupils should arrive in school wearing their house t-shirts and PE kit. All children must come to school with a bottle of water.
Mr McKeown

Parent Workshop - Engaging Children in Sport
Monday 11th July 5:30-6:30pm
Playground/field and Key stage 1 Hall
As part of our series of parent workshops, Mr Martin Colley will be delivering an interactive session to give us ideas on how to best engage our children in physical activity. Martin has taught secondary PE for over 20 years and currently works for Sporting Influence. Their aim is to improve the standard of teaching and increase opportunities in Primary School sport. They also seek to improve social skills through sport.
Martin believes that teaching sport correctly gives children the best chance to develop a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle and the potential to move into secondary school with those important skills. The children at Bramhope benefit greatly from Mr Colley’s PE lessons each Monday and we are very pleased to be able to open this session to everyone.
In his own time, Martin can be found out on one of his bikes or putting in the miles running the local tracks and trails. He also loves to venture out on hiking and backpacking adventures in all weathers to help him reconnect with the environment.
Martin's session is not aimed at sports specialists and has something for everyone!
The session will explore:
- How to create games from very basic sports equipment
- Cooperation and competition
- How to transform a family walk into an adventure
- What is available online for rainy days.
- How adults can be positive role models.
Please complete the ONLINE FORM if you would like to attend. Please note that sports wear / comfortable clothing is advised if you would like to take part in the activities.
We hope to see you there
Mrs Yeomans and Mrs Judd (Pastoral leaders)
