Dear parents and carers,
Thank you for the many positive messages about the current planning application submitted for our forthcoming school expansion.
As you would expect, a number of local residents are concerned about the impact on people who are using the path between KS1 and KS2 as a shortcut to the medical centre. Whilst I am wholly sympathetic to the needs of the elderly and those with restricted mobility, the safety of the children in school must remain my priority. The fact that we currently have unknown individuals on site and using their phones is a safeguarding risk that we need to alleviate.
If the application goes ahead, all building work would be completed by September of this year. In practical terms, children would continue to access the site from both Breary Rise and Tredgold. The main difference is that there would be no open access to the public within the school day-something which would give me great piece of mind. Removing the need for the bike locks on the playground gate would also enable our older children to enjoy a greater degree of independence as they move between the two school buildings. This independence is an important stepping stone to any secondary school where the setting is so much bigger and children need to navigate their way round school independently.
Clearly, there are a range of views around school expansion and many myths still to dispel. If you would like to find out more about the rationale for expansion or ask me any questions about the current proposals, please do contact admin to arrange a call: admin@bramhopeprimaryschool.co.uk.
