PTA News
Wow, we are 5 weeks into the new school year and what a busy, but productive month we have had. We started this year's events with our annual scarecrow festival, which, I’m sure you will agree was AMAZING! Thank you, to everybody who made & displayed scarecrows, helped with setting up the trail , helped with stalls, served food, sold drinks….the list goes on and on. The pta would like to extend a specific Thank you to Sue Rugg who organised the hunt itself, Nicki Dodds and Laura mound for helping set up the strain, Laura Hodgson, Paola Sanna, Darren Wardman, Lenka Gerrett, and Carey Henry (sorry if I’ve missed your name) for helping man the stalls, and the group of dads who helped carry stuff to our cupboard. The year 6s were totally amazing along with some previous year 8 pupils who also helped. We could not have done this without you!
And wasn’t it just lovely to see all the children playing on the field!!! Just a wonderful day.
We are now keen to start planning for the rest of the school year, and we would like to extend an invitation for all parents / caregivers to attend our first full committee meeting on Tues 2nd November, 19.15pm in Mrs Colbourn's office at school - there will be cake! If you have attended the recent curriculum evenings at school, you will have received a PTA information pack, highlighting that the main challenge the PTA regularly encounters, is recruiting enough volunteers to either project manage or help run an event. Are you able to attend a meeting, help organise an event, serve food or design a poster? Perhaps you have a professional skill which we can utilise? We are not able to fundraise without your help.
It's not uncommon for parents / carers to feel unsure about getting involved with the PTA. There is an assumption that you'll be expected to commit large chunks of time to the school, but that is not always the case. Any help you can provide is very much appreciated. In return, you will receive a huge sense of satisfaction & more involvement in the school community.
So, if you would like to get involved, have ideas, or just want to see what we get up to, please come along. You are ALL welcome, and can choose to be involved as much or as little as you feel you can commit. We look forward to seeing you!
Thank you
