Dear Parents and Carers,
It was a pleasure accompanying our team to this week's matches at Harrogate High school. The standard was excellent but we were on top form, winning four games out of six and coming first overall. Captained by Ahmad, all the boys played brilliantly and a special mention goes to our great goalie Matthew and top scorers Josh and Saul. Congratulations everyone!
Although football is popular at school, we are committed to developing a wide range of sports and improving all our outdoor areas. Following last week's meeting with AGP, we are therefore committing to four projects, all of which are designed to improve our sporting facilities and play areas as well as get every child more active!
A re-surfacing of the KS1 playground with multiplay and artificial grass. The plan is to zone 4 areas, provide a mini running track around the edge and maximise play space by artificially grassing the muddy areas.
A tarmac re-surfacing of the KS2 playground nearest the entrance in order to create a full sized netball court. The plan is to include our school emblem and provide seating areas and designated quiet spaces.
The creation of a multiplay 200m running track round the football pitch on the school field. Running 8 laps is equivalent to running a mile and the plan is to include a 4 lane, 80m straight alongside the loop.
The installation of a MUGA (multi use game area) on the current KS2 playground next to the tyres. The area would be big enough for two 5 a side football pitches but marked for different games and protected by a low fence.
Full plans and costs will be shared in a couple of weeks but all our fund raising will go towards these 4 projects. We are also fortunate enough to have a parent help us with bid writing so if you feel you can offer your support with this or with sponsorship or donations, please let me know.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the PTA Christmas shopping evening on Thursday 29 November, for what promises to be a fantastic start to the Christmas festivities.
Have a lovely weekend
Rachel Colbourn
