Dear Parents and Carers,
It was lovely to see so many of you at yesterday’s curriculum information evening. I hope you found it useful to meet with your child’s class teacher and we were able to answer your queries about school routines and expectations. In addition, I hope you enjoyed sampling our school food and maybe a biscuit or too. If you have any questions about our school meals or your child’s allergies or intolerances, please contact our catering manager directly on bramhope@harrisoncatering.co.uk. Finally, thanks to your generous donations, we also raised over £100 for Macmillan. Thank you everyone!
Harvest
You will have received a letter yesterday regarding Harvest celebrations which will take place on Friday 11 October. This year we will be having a traditional harvest assembly in KS1 hall followed by an ‘Open house’ in KS2. We will also be collecting tinned food for St George’s crypt and a pound for CRMI in Uganda. Many thanks for your support; we hope you can join us for all or part of the morning.
Parent readers
If you are new to school or an existing parent who would like to hear readers, please let us know. We are looking for volunteers to listen to children, encouraging them to read aloud with fluency and expression and talk about their book. Ideally, we would like parents or grandparents who have an afternoon to spare each week so we can pair adults with classes and they can get to know the children over time. If you would like to hear children read and are able to spare the time, please get in touch with the school admin team.
MAT update
You may be aware that the process of forming the Collaborative Learning Trust, (the name of our Multi Academy Trust) is nearly completed. From 1 November, Bramhope will be in the Trust and schools within our 'Family of schools' are continuing their discussions about potentially joining. In the meantime, Hunslet C. E. school will be joining in December and will be supported by staff appointed by the Trust.
Children’s safety
We still have on-going concerns about children’s safety around our school car parks. Parents will be aware that we are entitled to use half of the medical centre car park and that this is for staff only. The car park nearest the KS1 playground is also shared between our school staff and the Cliffe House nursery parents and I am concerned that the congestion at drop off and pick up is making it unsafe for our children. Please do park off site if you can.
Language Learners French Classes Bonjour!
Would you like your child to gain enthusiasm, have fun and excel in languages? Our classes have been established for many years here in Yorkshire. Our classes take place on a Monday lunchtime, a group for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Our classes are small, planned for specific age groups and interactive. We make learning languages lots of fun! We follow the Award Winning La Jolie Ronde structured programme. For further information please contact Zoë Dooley @ Language Learners on 0113 2500809/07946577545

PTA
Thank you to those parents who were able to attend the PTA meeting on Monday. We reviewed previous events, discussed plans for the year and talked about our great outdoor project phase one-KS2 playground. After 18 months of fund raising we have the money to go ahead and I will be booking the work in as soon as possible. We will also be involving children in the design process and I am really looking forward to improving the playground environment for everyone.
Have a lovely weekend,
Rachel Colbourn
