Dear parents and carers,
I hope your children have settled back into the summer term and are looking forward to clubs starting next week. I am conscious that our children have a wonderful range of opportunities both in and out of school and our hope for children to ‘Belong. Be your best. Be Bramhope’ was perfectly illustrated in our visit to Bramhope Methodist Church yesterday. As you are aware, we are a village school seeking to further develop community links and provide opportunities for intergenerational relationships. Recently we organised for all children to take part in dementia awareness workshops in order to become a dementia friendly school and I have started to build on this appreciation of older people in our local community.
You may already be aware that ‘Meeting Point’ is held at the Methodist Church on Thursdays from 2pm-4pm. This is a session for people of all ages to meet and chat. They have guest speakers, play games, go out for meals and do activities and I thought it might be mutually beneficial for a small group of children to visit once a term in order to chat with the members and play games. Yesterday Mrs Cotton and I escorted a group of Y4 children, all of whom were a real credit to their parents and to the school. The children listened carefully, talked about themselves, asked questions and also had lots of fun! It was lovely to be able to pilot a new community project and we very much hope to visit Meeting point again.
Have a lovely weekend
