Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you have been enjoying the sunshine - it feels as though spring might be around the corner! There has been a real feel good factor in the air this week at school - from the Y3/4 volcano based performance to KS1’s chocolate open morning, it has been lovely to see the school so busy and so many parents able to enjoy their children’s learning. The smiling faces and welcome sunshine reminds us all that spring might be around the corner and I do hope that everyone is able to enjoy some additional family time over the coming half term holiday!
Before we head into another busy half term, please could I give advanced notice for three forthcoming events:
Parents evenings
Year 6 parents evenings will take place on Tuesday 5 March and Wednesday 6 March 3.30 - 6.30pm. Reception and Years 1-5 will take place on Tuesday 26th March and Thursday 28th March 3.30-6.30pm. We will be asking you to make appointments with your child's teacher(s) on Parentmail nearer the time.
Sports Days
These will take place as part of Healthy schools week and last all morning, until midday. All parents are invited to attend. KS2 sports day will be held on Monday 24 June and KS1 on Thursday 27 June.
Training Day - Date Change
Please note that our training day provisionally scheduled for Thursday 2 May has been moved to Friday 3 May. The school will remain open for the local councillor elections on 2 May and will close for the training day on Friday 3 May. Many families will be able to watch the 'Tour de Yorkshire' bike race come through Bramhope for the first time on 3 May. Although our school will be involved with the excitement of the Tour, this will allow everyone to have a longer weekend (Monday 6 May is also a bank holiday and school remains closed). On Friday 3 May, Stage 2 of the race passes through the village and the parish council are planning to make the most of the event!
Music
Thank you to the many parents who expressed an interest in their child having peripatetic piano or guitar lessons in school. I have now found teachers to start after half term and a letter will go out to all parents who previously expressed an interest offering their child a 4 week block of group taster lessons at £5 for half an hour. These lessons will start w/c 4 March and will give everyone the chance to try their instrument prior to signing up for lessons from the summer term.
Once again, enjoy the Spring sunshine this February half term. We're back at school on Monday 25 February.
