Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas break and are ready for the spring term. The children have settled back really well into school life and I know that many parents preferred finishing term slightly later and having more time together after Christmas.
At the moment we are deciding which of our outdoor projects we will complete over half term. Thanks to your generous support we are starting to put our exciting outdoor plans into action! This is why we would love three individuals to agree to take on the roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary asap. A letter will be going out next week to explain the expectations of these roles as our current committee are formally resigning. It would be really disappointing to put improvement plans on hold due to not having a committee. Unfortunately, although we continue to have volunteers to help at each event, we will be unable to hold any further events this school year if we have no one in these formal positions to work alongside our volunteers. Please do look out for the letter explaining more about the committee roles and contact the school if you feel able to become either Chair, Treasurer or Secretary.
Sweets and chocolate
Our ‘New year-new you’ assembly and this term’s PSHE theme encourages everyone to develop a healthier lifestyle. This includes emphasising the importance of nutrition, mental well-being and physical exercise. Please can I remind all parents that children are not allowed to bring chocolate or sweets into school as part of their packed lunch. Small amounts of calorie dense sugary food (such as cereal bars) are permissible. However, as I’m sure you are aware, food served in schools must meet strict school food standards and we have a duty to replicate these standards with children who choose to have a packed lunch. If you would like to know more about how our school meals meet the school food standards, please contact Craig Robinson, our catering manager. If you would like your child to move onto school dinners, please contact our admin team.
Have a lovely weekend.
