We have a growing body of parents who are keen to delay purchasing a smartphone for their child. Our parent led 'Otley Smartphone Free - It's Great to Wait' campaign has officially been launched this September.

In the spirit of supporting parents' 'Otley Smartphone Free - It's Great to wait' campaign, please can I request that parents who are intending to send their child to school with a phone, consider investing in a 'brick' phone. These are already used by some of our current children and many of our children are aware of their advantages. Brick phones have been chosen by parents for the following reasons, some of which may resonate with you too:

• Limited features: Primarily designed for calls and SMS.
• Basic interface: Simple navigation and user interface.
• Lack of internet access: No web browsing, app downloads, or social media integration.
• Durable build: Often robust and built to last.
• Good battery life: Typically have longer battery life than smartphones.
• Examples: Older Motorola, Nokia, or other early mobile phones.
